Writing
At Amotherby, we teach English through our topics. Through high-quality texts, we engage our pupils in their learning, providing opportunities to write for a multitude of purposes.
Over overall progression grid breaks down the objectives detailed within the National Curriculum. This is then broken down further using 'I'm a Clever Writer' statements where progression across genres and grammatical elements of writing are clearly defined.
From there, we have devised clear expectations through our assessments and through the document 'Introduction of writing elements by year group'. This document ensures that all teachers are aware of the different elements of writing that children should have mastered by the end of the year group.
