School Results & Awards

We are very proud of the achievements that our children make.  We recognise the strength of every child in many ways.  Outcomes from national assessments are only one measure of the brilliant successes and talents we see in our children.

How are the results gathered?

Each year, children in Year 6 and Year 2 complete 'SATs'.  These are national assessments, which take place in May.  Tests are taken in Reading, Grammar and Mathematics.  Teacher assessment is undertaken for Writing.

Children in Year 1 also complete a 'Phonics Screening Check'.  This is a national measure and is used to identify children's understanding of letters and sounds.

In Year 4, children undertake a 'Multiplication Tables Check' in June each year.  This identifies the percentage of children who achieve full marks (25) on the assessment.  There is no pass mark.

Information gathered about children in Reception (The Early Years Foundation Stage) is used to compile an 'Early Years Profile' at the end of the year.

The outcomes for children at Amotherby in July 2025 are reported below.

Science Quality Mark

We are incredibly proud to announce that Amotherby Community Primary School has been awarded the Science Quality Mark in recognition of our strong commitment to high-quality science teaching and learning across the school.

The Science Quality Mark celebrates schools where science is well-planned, engaging and inclusive, and where pupils are encouraged to be curious, ask questions and think like scientists. Achieving this award reflects the hard work of our staff and pupils in developing a rich science curriculum that builds knowledge progressively, promotes practical enquiry and supports pupils to use scientific vocabulary confidently.

As part of the award, we demonstrated:

  • A clear and well-sequenced science curriculum from EYFS to Year 6

  • Regular opportunities for hands-on investigations and scientific enquiry

  • Strong subject leadership and ongoing staff development in science

  • Inclusive teaching that supports all pupils to succeed and develop a love of science

  • Positive attitudes to science, with pupils enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn

The Science Quality Mark also involves reflective self-evaluation and continuous improvement, ensuring that science remains a strength of our curriculum and continues to evolve to meet the needs of our pupils.

This achievement highlights our commitment to providing an ambitious, engaging and high-quality education, and we are delighted that our work in science has been recognised in this way.

Geography Quality Mark

We are delighted to announce that Amotherby Community Primary School has been awarded the Geography Quality Mark in recognition of the high standards of geography teaching and learning across the school. This achievement reflects our pupils’ enthusiasm for exploring the world around them and developing a deeper understanding of people, places and environments. The award demonstrates that our curriculum not only builds knowledge and skills but also inspires curiosity, enquiry and a sense of responsibility for the planet. We would like to thank our dedicated staff team for their hard work and commitment in making geography engaging and meaningful for every pupil – this success is a testament to their passion and creativity.
