Associate Schools Shakespeare Project – York Theatre

Class 4  recently had the fantastic opportunity to take part in the Associate Schools Programme at York Theatre Royal. As part of the project, pupils explored the famous Shakespeare play Hamlet through a series of exciting drama workshops.

Working alongside theatre professionals, the children developed their understanding of the characters, themes and language of the play while building confidence in performance and creative expression. They explored scenes from the play, experimented with staging and used drama techniques to bring Shakespeare’s story to life.

The experience was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to engage with live theatre, develop their creativity and deepen their appreciation of one of the world’s most famous plays. Class 4 represented the school brilliantly and showed great enthusiasm, imagination and teamwork throughout the programme.

February  2026 - Gymnastics

Class 4 have been busy developing their balance, strength and teamwork skills in PE. Using a range of equipment, pupils worked with a partner to create and hold different balances, focusing on control, communication and trust. There was lots of problem-solving as they explored ways to support each other safely, showing great resilience and cooperation throughout the lesson.

In December 2025 we were visited by our artist in residence 'Kane Cunningham.'

We welcomed local artist Kane Cunningham into our class in December. Kane worked with us to explore a range of printing techniques. The children experimented with patterns, textures, and layering, developing their creativity and confidence as artists. Using the skills they learned, the class collaborated to create a final printed piece, bringing together everyone’s ideas into one shared artwork. It was an inspiring experience that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and pride in our collective achievement.

In May 2025 we visited Danby Lodge

To support our Rivers topic we visited Danby Lodge.  We looked at the features of a river as well as exploring key wildlife.  We took part in a woodland investigation and learnt about the different types of vegetation and wildlife.
